A handful of pine-seed
will cover mountains

with the green majesty
of forests.

I too will set my face
to the wind

and throw my handful
of seed on high.

Support Our Charitable Work in Kentucky

About The Sierra Club Foundation (TSCF)

The Sierra Club Foundation works to educate, inspire, and empower humanity to preserve the natural and human environment.

It does this by (1) providing resources to the Sierra Club and other nonprofit organizations for charitable programs that protect and restore the environment; (2) raising funds, donated for tax-exempt charitable purposes; and (3) preserving, enhancing and administering these funds so that future generations will inherit a healthy planet with wild places left to explore.

Does it matter whether I donate to the Sierra Club or to TSCF?

For all our work!

Contributions to the Sierra Club allow us to do the greatest variety of work with your dollar.

We can use this money to support all of our environmental activities, including lobbying work and political endorsement efforts.

These funds also help us purchase much needed equipment and services. This kind of money, known as 501(c)(4) money, can be used to accomplish all of the types of work that TSCF (c3) money can be used for, and more. It is the hardest to raise and the kind we most need.

Donations to the Sierra Club are not tax-deductible; they support our effective, citizen-based advocacy and lobbying efforts.

If you are not concerned with whether your gift is tax-deductible, please consider donatig to the "Sierra Club."

Restricted to part of our work

Contributions to The Sierra Club Foundation, known as 501(c)(3) funds, are used for that portion of our work that is strictly limited to education & public interest litigation.

Contributions and gifts to The Sierra Club Foundation are tax-deductible as charitable donations; they support grants for public education, research and public interest litigation necessary to further the Sierra Club’s conservation goals.

The Sierra Club Foundation offers several ways for donors to contribute, including stock, donor advised funds, endowments, and more.

If you donate to TSCF, and would like your contribution to benefit Kentucky - you must indicate that your gift should be directed to our Cumberland Chapter account at TSCF.
